I won’t be posting everyday about this anymore, I don’t think it really benefits me to do so, I’ll just be putting weekly summaries of how it went, and evaluations of the program.
After the first week, I feel great. I’ve lost about 5 pounds, and have more energy than usual. I think the more energy aspect is less about this specific plan, and more about eating 5 small meals per day instead of 3 larger ones. I now have a consistent energy level throughout the day, instead of that post-lunch dragging feeling that I used to get. I’ve also been up later at night and getting up earlier in the morning and do not feel tired or worn down during the day.
The biggest challenge so far (or what I thought would be) was getting up early to workout. Turns out I’m able to do it, and actually enjoy it. It ended up being not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be, and I think I’ll be able to keep it up.
The other challenge we’ve had is the time it takes to plan and prepare the meals. I was rushing around in the morning trying to make meals for the day, and it was incredibly difficult, I always felt late even when I wasn’t. Also, transporting the meals in whatever containers we had, then throwing it in a plastic bag to take to work only lasted about 2 days. I went out and bought lunch bags, and spent some time trying various configurations of containers and then bought a bunch. It works out quite well, and (planned correctly) I can fit an entire day’s meals in the bag. Most of the time I just have to do one snack, lunch, and maybe another snack, which works out well.
As far as preparing everything, I started (just last night) preparing and packing everything the night before. That way in the morning I can just pack the bags, and we’re all set. It also gives me the chance to run out if I realize that we’re out of something that we need. Previously, if we were unexpectedly out, I had to come up with something else to do, and then do it all that morning (way too stressful).
So overall, it’s going well. The food is good, the exercise is good, and we both feel great. 86 days to the wedding!
