I know that blinker’s are quite a complicated feature on vehicles today. Up to signal right, and down to signal left, it can all get pretty confusing.
Although most times it doesn’t seem like you are confused about how it works, you seem confused about when it should be used. I’ve seen you use it correctly, turning it on a few hundred feet before your turn, depending on your speed of travel, and boy is it helpful.
But those times are few and far between. Most of the time I see you switch it on as you begin your turn, which is confusing to me.
The blinker is not there to signal your current course of action. Once you’re doing it, it’s pretty obvious that you are turning. I know you think it helps, but trust me, it doesn’t. If I want to know your current course of action, I can just look at the two plus tons of metal suddenly slowing down and turning in front of me.
And what’s with the wave? Is that the “I know I just screwed up I’m really sorry I won’t do it again” wave? Or is that the “I’m gonna wave cause I’m saying thank you for not pointing out my ignorance by hitting me” wave?
I suppose you’re actually quite proud of using your blinker, and you get upset with those who don’t. Don’t kid yourself into thinking that it’s any better to flick it on halfway through the turn, even if it does help you feel better about who you are.
Please, do everyone this small favor, if you know you’re going to turn in the next 500 feet, put on your blinker. If the movement of your hand while not turning the steering wheel is too much effort, please let me know and I can send you some exercises that will help you in this matter.
Thank you.
