Walking back from lunch today I saw something that I find quite disturbing. There, walking down the street, was a person carrying a sign that said “Traffic Sucks.” Now of course, I’m thinking “yep, it does.” Then I get closer and I see on the back of the sign are stickers… “Life Sucks” and “Half Empty.” Farther down the street I see a similar sign saying “Life Sucks,” with the same stickers on the back.
Now, on one hand, I applaud that these people are taking an idea and running with it. I assume it’s some form of marketing campaign for… something, it wasn’t clear what. On the other, I find it sad and disturbing that this is what they’re marketing. Life sucks? Is this the best we’ve got?
We should be doing everything we can not to promote that life sucks, but that life is wonderful. Life is an incredible journey meant to be enjoyed every step of the way. I can only hope that whatever it is they’re marketing fails, and that’s probably the only time you’ll ever hear me say that.
Now these people… they got it right.
